Discover Costa Rica's best diving experience.
Isla Tortuga is surrounded by a number of dive sites, most of which are within thirty minutes by boat from the island. Depending on ocean conditions, dives may include a visit to one of three shipwrecks (the only area in Costa Rica and Central America that boasts three shipwrecks—providing one of the best diving adventures in the region). Average visibility ranges from 30 to 50 feet with the possibility of 80 feet. In addition to the sunken vessels, you'll see volcanic rock formations and rock pinnacles. Common species seen during dives include: white tip sharks, schools of Grunts, Yellowtail Snapper, Spotted Eagle Rays, turtles, stingrays, angel fish, octopus, sea horses, starfish, frogfish and many species of eels. The elusive Whale Sharks are even known to make an appearance, some reaching up to 35-feet long; as well as Spinner Dolphins, Humpback Whales, Pilot Whales, and Orcas.
